- A Fresnel lantern is a stepped-lens lighting instrument that produces a focusable, wide, soft-edged beam that is perfect for theatrical back light and side light. Fresnel lamps also work well as area lighting at medium distance throws for stage, film and video work. Fresnels are often used with snoots (or top hats) and barn door accessories that function as shutters to limit the light and eliminate spill. Fresnel lights offer lighting designers better control over beam angle than floods.

The ProLine 300L Tungsten-Halogen 3" Fresnel is one of Altman's exciting new series of ProLine Location and Studio Fresnels. The first American made motion picture and television lighting instruments to outperform their European rivals, ProLine is designed to deliver the results you demand at a price you can live with! A compact, rugged location set light for use as a small key, backlight or kicker. Produces a powerful 53 degree beam with a 300-Watt FKW(CP81). accepts all standard 5" (12.7 cm) accessories. Optional 4-way barndoors, 2-in-1 snoot and scrim set.
